THE BLOGGING PROJECT (MAR 3023-B-WE)

MONDAY - September 7, 2020

Principles of Marketing Students:

One of your course requirements in the Principles of Marketing course is to establish and maintain a blog during the 16-week semester.

I believe blogging has two benefits for you.  First, blogging can be an enjoyable way to sharpen your writing skills. Second, blogging about various marketing principles can help you crystallize your thoughts and deepen your critical thinking.

Here's the way the blogging project will work:

1. For each blog posting, I will assign a topic for you to blog about.

2. You will be given a specific time frame to write and post your reponse to the topic.

3. I will visit your blog site and assess your reponse after which I will assign points and a grade. (The blogging rubric will be posted on Canvas.)

As it looks right now, you will have 5-6 blog assignments between now and the end of the semester.  But first, you will need to set up your blog site.

I'm asking all of you to please use Blogger.com. It's just easier for me to keep up with the postings if they are all on the same site.

Here's the steps to set up your Blogger account.

STEP ONE: Go to blogger.com.

STEP TWO: You will need a Google G-Mail account.  (You can use an existing g-mail account that you already have, or you can set up a new one.)

STEP THREE: Choose a name for your blog site.  You may name it whatever you'd like.  The postings on your site, for now, will pertain to contemporary marketing issues.  However, the name of your blog site does not necessarily have to pertain to marketing.  It's up to you!

STEP FOUR: Choose a URL.  My URL for this blog site is FAMUPOM.blogspot.com.  I would suggest that you keep it simple and easy to recall.

STEP FIVE: Determine how you want your name to be displayed.  USe your first and last name or include a middle initial or another distinguishing marker if your name is a common one.

You're all set!

Once you have your URL, please e-mail it to me.  Also, make sure your blog site allows for reader comments so I can provide a response to your postings.

Happy Blogging!
